AshOS

A senior product designer's portfolio disguised as a working Windows 98 desktop built on TanStack Start.

AshOS is a portfolio site for Ashfaque Hoque, a senior product designer and AI-focused builder, styled as a fully interactive retro desktop OS instead of a conventional page. It's built on TanStack Start (React 19, file-based routing, server functions) with Cloudflare Workers, D1, and R2 for the backend. The desktop is draggable and window-based on desktop, collapses to a tap-to-open icon grid on mobile, and includes real "apps": a blog and case-study CMS, a coffee/perfume collection browser, a retro cassette-player radio widget streaming live SomaFM stations, and three playable games (Snake, Minesweeper, Tic-Tac-Toe) — all wrapped in Win98-accurate chrome (bevels, title bars, a working taskbar and Start menu). Content (blog posts, case studies, media) is managed through a custom admin CMS also built with TanStack Start server functions, backed by D1.
